About Us
A Vision for Sierra Leone's Agricultural Future
Foday Senesie Kabba Agricultural Enterprise was born from the belief that Sierra Leone possesses the land, the climate, and the people to become self-sufficient in food production. Founded by Mr. Foday Senesie Kabba, our enterprise began with 52 acres of farmland in Mamuntha Mayosoh Village, Tonkolili District.
Sierra Leone continues to spend millions on rice importation alone, while vast stretches of fertile agricultural land remain underutilised. We saw this not as a problem, but as an opportunity — an opportunity to prove that local, large-scale farming can meet the nation's food demands.
Our approach combines modern agricultural techniques with indigenous knowledge and local labour. By hiring tractors for land preparation, employing community members for planting and harvesting, and applying targeted fertilisation strategies, we maximise yield while keeping the economic benefits within the community.
Looking ahead, our vision extends beyond Tonkolili. We aim to serve as a model for agricultural enterprise across Sierra Leone — demonstrating that food security, economic growth, and community development are not competing goals, but deeply interconnected ones.
Why We Exist
Reduce Rice Importation
Sierra Leone imports the majority of its rice. By cultivating high-yield Rock 34 Hybrid rice locally, we directly reduce the nation's dependence on foreign food supplies.
Maximise Farmer Income
Through efficient large-scale operations and direct market access, we ensure that farming generates sustainable income for operators and labourers alike.
Increase Food Security
Growing three staple crops — rice, groundnut, and pigeon pea — ensures diverse, nutritious food production that strengthens the local food supply chain.
Create Local Employment
Every farming season creates hundreds of mandays of employment for indigenous community members, from planting through to harvest and distribution.
What We Set Out to Achieve
-
To cultivate 52 acres of farmland with rice, groundnut, and pigeon pea using modern agricultural practices combined with indigenous labour and knowledge.
-
To contribute to the reduction of rice importation in Sierra Leone by producing high-yield Rock 34 Hybrid rice at commercial scale.
-
To create sustainable employment opportunities for the local community of Mamuntha Mayosoh Village and the wider Tonkolili District.
-
To generate income through commercial farming that supports both the enterprise's growth and reinvestment into the community.
-
To establish a replicable model of agricultural enterprise that can be adopted across other districts in Sierra Leone.
-
To enhance food security and nutrition in the region by producing diverse, staple crops year after year on a reliable farming calendar.
